*We collected over 250 gift bags for Desert Aids Project to distribute to their clients. For some, it may be the only gift they receive this Christmas.
Join us for a heart-warming time interacting with long-term nursing home residents! Bring some festive Christmas cookies wrapped in small baggies for individual gifts to residents and an ornament to help decorate their tree. We will also be helping these folks with a Christmas craft, and spending time in conversation letting them know they are not forgotten or overlooked this Christmas season. On site at 47763 Monroe St. in Indio, 2 – 4 PM
*20 volunteers came out to socialize, sing, bring cookies and make crafts with the residents. Volunteers had a blast and many of them would like to continue to do it again on a regular basis.
CVRM serves 175,000 meals a year to those in need and their food banks are at a critical level currently. This holiday season we want to FILL the pantry at CVRM with nonperishable foods and help them to keep up the great work! Drop off your items at CVRM or Southwest Church between 9 AM and 7 PM.
*Over 132 bags of food and 8 bags of toiletry items where collected to help assist those in need.
Volunteers are needed to help us share Christmas joy with Indio residents through a casual evening block party featuring a free hot dog dinner, crafts, and fun. Guests will receive thrift store vouchers for one outfit and a food box. We’ll also have the Mobile Medical Clinic on site! On Site at the Indio Thrift Store – 82970 Requa Ave, Indio, 5 – 8 PM.
*Over 35 volunteers showed up to the party and spread joy to Indio community residents by giving away hot dogs, cupcakes, clothing and boxes of food to feed 54 families in need. Many of the families kids joined in the party by participating in the opportunities to sing, dance and build crafts.
Share compassion with a valley resident in need — enthusiastic hard-workers are invited to help us with yard cleanup for an elderly single woman who is in jeopardy of losing her home. Meet at Southwest and travel together to project site, 8 AM – Noon.
*45 hardworking individuals showed up to clean up and transform a backyard filled with years of debris, leafs and pine needles. Professional gardeners volunteered to cut tree branches that where encroaching on the roof of the home. An massive dumpster was filled to the top with cut limbs and over 300 bags of leaves and debris. Our Volunteer leaders did an amazing job of organizing and mobilizing this project!
Bring smiles to the faces of families in need by donating new toys to the Coachella Valley Christmas Store. Please, no stuffed animals or toys in open packages. Drop your purchases off at Southwest Church between 8 AM and 1 PM.

Some fun and outgoing individuals are wanted to host a Christmas potluck dinner for the expectant mothers at Mama’s House. After dinner we’ll spend time decorating stockings and ornaments with the moms. At Mama’s House office – 44-875 Deep Canyon Road, Suite 2 from 5 – 7 PM.

During the annual toy drive at CVRM, teens are often overlooked. Southwest has a goal to provide gifts for 100 teens this year, which may include sports balls, fragrance sets, make up kits, or nail kits. Drop off toys at Southwest or CVRM (47470 Van Buren St, Indio) between 9 AM & 7 PM
*Nearly 150 gifts were donated for underprivileged teens of the Coachella Valley.
Joy-filled volunteers (18 and up) are wanted to host a fun, evening Christmas party at this local refuge for previously abused and trafficked youth and young adults. We’ll provide a holiday dinner, treats, and festive party fun. 72710 East Lynn Street, Thousand Palms – 4:30 – 7 PM.
*14 volunteers showed up to celebrate Christmas with 7 kids that currently reside at Safe House of the Desert. There were food, crafts, Christmas tree decorating, and lots of fun. A memorable moment that evening was everyone gathered around the living room, and one-by-one, shared their hopes and dreams they would like to achieve in the new year. The opportunity to hear from some of these kids was nothing short of amazing! God moved in great and powerful ways, bringing laughter, tears and great joy to both youth and volunteers.

*12 volunteers showed up to visit with the wonderful residents who live in the care facility. They had the opportunity to sing Christmas carols while residents ate dinner. Volunteers made crafts and passed out cookies as they got to know each other. We are not sure who had more fun…the residents…or the volunteers!

Ladies are needed to help Shelter from the Storm throw a gift-wrapping party for children and women who are overcoming painful pasts. Each volunteer should provide wrapping paper, tape and bows for this event. Location details available after signing up.
*7 volunteer women showed and wrapped “Santa” presents for 14 families… totaling over 130 gifts! The wrapping took a little longer than expected, but every volunteer refused to leave until every gift was wrapped!
Desert Arc Gift Wrapping Party
We are looking for generous volunteers to purchase a $20-30 gift and join us at the church to wrap it. These presents are for low-income, disabled adults. Gift ideas include: Bath & Body Sets, Art & Craft Items, Puzzle Books, Hand held classic video games (pac-man, football, frogger, etc), Slippers & Socks, Gloves & Scarf, Soft Blankets/Throws, and Learning Tools that help improve basic skills like dexterity, spelling, math, etc.
Volunteers will also write a personal Christmas note to be included with the gift. Southwest will deliver the wrapped presents to Desert Arc for them to distribute. Meet us on site at Southwest Church from 6 – 8 PM. We’ll provide the cookies and cocoa!
*6 volunteers showed up to wrap 26 gifts for low-income, disabled adults. Volunteers decided to wrap 24 additional gifts following the event!
Volunteers are needed to assist with assembly of food boxes for the annual Coachella Valley Christmas Store program, which helps families who do not have the financial means to have Christmas gifts or a special meal for the holidays. With over 1500 families (6000 kids!) to serve, it takes a lot of preparation and organization! Meet us at the Narrow Door warehouse located at 43052 Madison Street, indio, CA 92201.
